Habitat and Distribution
Found in the northern part of Australia usually in close proximity to permanent water supply. Often observed in reed beds.
About the animal:
- Very shiny and has scales that are very water repellent;
- The back is blackish brown, fading to yellow on the belly;
- Can grow to 3m;
- An efficient and relentless hunter;
- Mostly nocturnal.
What they eat?
Feeds on rats, bandicoots, wallabies, waterbirds and their eggs.
