Habitat and Distribution
It is the best known lizard in southern Australia. It shelters beneath dead vegetation, rubbish and in burrows.
About the animal:
- A large skink with broad triangular head and short blunt tail;
- Colour varies with back and tails with spots or streaks;
- They grow to about 30cm long;
- It will attempt to deter harassment with mouth agape,hissing and displaying the large blue tongue;
- It has a powerful jaw with which it can inflict a painful bite.
What they eat?
Omnivorous, feeding on a wide rage of invertebrates, flowers and fruits.
