Habitat and Distribution
Found across Australia in timbered habitats.
About the animal:
- They are a median sized raptor;
- The eyes are bright yellow;
- The males are smaller than females;
- Both parents build a large stick nest and defend their young;
- They hunt stealthily from a low, concealed perch, using sudden, short bursts of speed to pounce onto prey. Prey items are taken back to a perch.

They eat small mammals and birds.
